A Harrogate man has been jailed after breaching the requirements of a community order.
Ethan Platt, 22, appeared before York Magistrates Court on Monday (November 2), where he admitted breaching the order.
Magistrates in York imposed the order on Platt, of St Andrews Walk, on February 9, 2026, after he was convicted of stealing a car key and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent in Starbeck in January 2025.
A hearing on Monday heard that the 22-year-old failed to comply with the community order after he failed to attend unpaid work sessions on September 21 and September 28 this year.
Court documents said Platt also failed to provide acceptable evidence for the absences within five working days.
Magistrates jailed Platt for three months for the breach.
In court documents, magistrates said the sentence was reached because the 22-year-old had shown a “wilful and persistent failure to comply with the requirements of a community order”.
It added that Platt had a “flagrant disregard for court orders”.
