A man who kicked two police officers in the eye said he has ‘no recollection’ as he had taken LSD.
Alexander Ferebee, of Elmwood Street, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a constable at Harrogate Magistrates Court yesterday (October 22).
The court heard that police were called to reports of domestic violence at an address in Harrogate at 8.40am on August 31.
The prosecution said “allegations were made” and police decided to take Ferebee to Harrogate District Hospital. While there, he was “threatening and aggressive” because of drug and alcohol consumption.
During the incident he kicked both police constables in the eye and attempted to bite them multiple times. Because he was only wearing socks, his kicks caused no visible injury. He also broke his finger, and injured his wrist and back.
The defence said Ferebee had “no recollection” of the incident as he had taken LSD, a psychedelic drug.
He added that the incident “shook him [Ferebee] up significantly”, to the extent that he has approached his GP for support with his alcohol problem and been referred to addiction rehabilitation service North Yorkshire Horizons.
Ferebee, who is unemployed, was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work and a £199 fine.
