Town councillors are set to consider a £15,000 plan for a youth club bus in Harrogate.
Inspire Youth Yorkshire, a charity which provides youth services in Harrogate and surrounding areas, has made the proposal to Harrogate Town Council.
The council has made the provision of youth clubs a priority amid concern over a decline in facilities for young people in the Harrogate area.
In a report due before a town council finance and general purposes committee on Wednesday, Inspire Youth Yorkshire has proposed a £15,000 project to provide a mobile youth bus and a consultation scheme to help inform future provision.
The bus would provide a “dedicated, visible and recognisable” space for young people, the report said.
Meanwhile, the project, which would run between November 2026 and March 2027, would also include outreach sessions, school-based youth workshops and a five-day “pop-up youth hub”.
The report said:
This approach offers the greatest balance between immediate youth provision and meaningful consultation. Through a combination of mobile youth club sessions, school-based youth voice activities, detached outreach, a digital youth survey and a pop-up youth hub, the programme will engage young people where they live, learn and socialise.
The project is designed not only to provide positive activities and trusted adult support but also to produce a youth-led evidence base for the future of youth provision in Harrogate.
The move comes after town councillors previously raised concern over a lack of youth clubs for young people in Harrogate.
In November 2025, it approved £7,000 in funding for “additional youth engagement sessions” in the town.
Cllr Andrew Timothy, Liberal Democrat for Hookstone ward, said previously that providing more for young people to do, particularly those aged between 11 and 18, would be a good step for the town council.
Town councillors will consider the new project at a meeting at Harrogate Civic Centre on October 14.
