Readers' Letters: Station Gateway will only bring unnecessary roadworks to Harrogate

The following comments were left under an opinion article about the Harrogate Station Gateway scheme by Barry Adams.

A while ago I took a picture of the proposed Gateway area from the Victoria car park bridge and compared it with the artist's impression. It was just replacing concrete and bollards with concrete and bollards. Aren't there supposed to be a pavement, cycle lane, two lanes of traffic and a bus lane? Good luck with cramming all that into the area. Why didn't NYC ask for ideas from landscape designers and volunteers who might enjoy looking after wonderful floral displays? A missed opportunity and expensive mistake.

This undercosted vanity was always bound to go ahead and will be completed months or more late and way over budget and end up improving nothing. Appalling.

Surely it would be possible to save the tree by the pedestrian crossing to the Railway Station. Trees in towns should be valued.
