A section of the Harrogate Ringway that is frequently used by dog walkers has closed suddenly.
The closure affects the footpath at the end of Hornbeam Park that goes through the woods and across the railway bridge towards Almsford Drive.
A resident said there were no signs informing people what work is taking place or for how long.
They added:
There are lots of very unhappy dog walkers who use the path to get between Oatlands and Crimple.

Fencing has been erected.
Reform UK Cllr John Mann, who represents Oatlands and Pannal on North Yorkshire Council, visited the site yesterday and said there was a notice on the fencing saying ‘danger deep excavations’.
Cllr Mann added:
I have just written to the local highways depot asking for further information, specifically the reason for the deep excavations which have caused the closure of the footpath and secondly how long the work will last before the footpath is opened.
I presume the lack of a public notice announcing the closure of the footpath is due to the emergency nature of the works, given the danger warning on the Heras fencing about the deep excavations.
The Stray Ferret has asked the council for details of the closure.
