With the summer weather finally set to make an appearance, the spirits of us Brits are soon to be lifted.

And what better way to enjoy the sunshine than by with a cold drink in hand and a tray of freshly cooked fish and chips?

The Harrogate district is well-served with chippies, but sometimes a seafront meal cannot be beaten.

Ahead of the May half-term and incoming sizzling weather, we’ve collated a list of fish and chip shops on our doorstep and further across North Yorkshire.

Enjoy.

Harrogate district

Local fish and chip lovers certainly aren’t short of choices around the Harrogate district.

Located on Cold Bath Road, long-running restaurant and takeaway Oliver’s has been serving up fish and chips for decades.

Meanwhile, Oatlands Mount Fisheries is well known in the Oatlands area of Harrogate as a good spot to pick up pick and chips whether its an after work tea on a Friday night or swinging by for a midweek evening treat.

Harrogate Fisheries on Skipton Road is also known for its large portions and no‑nonsense approach to traditional frying.

North Street Fisheries is a good shout for an independent fish and chip shop in the cathedral city of Ripon and Drakes is always a good bet on Knaresborough's High Street.

Beyond the Harrogate district

If you are planning to venture beyond the Harrogate district, then there are other options to grab some fish and chips.

Scarborough’s Lifeboat Fish Bar has good ratings and is perfect for a trip to the coast.

Just up the coast in Whitby, Trenchers offers a good spot for families and day‑trippers with its award‑winning fish and chips.

Finally, Inghams Fish Restaurant in Filey is a favourite on the North Yorkshire coast, known for serving traditional fish and chips in a warm, nautical‑themed dining room just a short walk from the seafront.
