A woman has been fined after a spate of thefts in Harrogate.
Diane Atkinson, 43, appeared before Harrogate Magistrates Court on Thursday (October 8) where she spoke to confirm her name, date of birth and address.
Atkinson, of Mayfield Grove admitted three charges of theft and an offence of attempted theft on four different dates in August this year.
Antony Farrell, prosecuting, told the court that the 43-year-old stole DVD boxsets with value of £614 from HMV at the Victoria Shopping Centre in Harrogate on August 29.
Mr Farrell said the DVDs were then “taken to a Cash Converters” where they were sold.
The prosecution said Atkinson also stole DVDs to an unknown value from the same HMV on August 28.

Mr Farrell told the court that the defendant stole £30 worth of jewellery from Next at the Victoria Shopping Centre on August 26 and attempted to steal meat from Waitrose on Station Parade to the value of £43 on August 19.
Brian Nuttney, defending, said Atkinson was remorseful for her actions and that she had developed a drug problem after her release from prison.
Mr Nuttney said:
She got in with the wrong crowd. She said that she needs some help. She would welcome the assistance of probation.
Mr Nuttney told the court that a community order would help Atkinson to get assistance probation for her drug problem.
However, magistrates said the offences did not meet the community threshold.
Magistrates fined Atkinson £80 and ordered her to pay a £32 victims’ surcharge and £85 in court costs.
She was also ordered to pay £30 in compensation to Next.
No compensation was made for the DVDs as it there was no information on which company would claim for the loss.
