Live entertainment takes over Knaresborough

Feva returns to Knaresborough this weekend with a packed programme of music, entertainment and family-friendly events.

The festival officially opens at the Market Cross at noon on Friday, August 14, followed by live music including country group The Wranglers and rock ’n’ roll tribute band The Perfect Shambles.

Saturday highlights include a musical parkrun at Conyngham Hall, circus performer Felicity Footloose at the Market Cross, and performances from a range of local and visiting bands.

On Sunday, events include a special choral Eucharist at St John’s Church, the annual Town Crier Competition at the Market Cross (pictured above) and The Handlebards’ outdoor production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It at Conyngham Hall, before Queen tribute act Qween UK performs at The Frazer Theatre.

Enjoy Shakespeare under the stars at Newby Hall

The Lord Chamberlain’s Men will perform Shakespeare’s Othello on the West Lawn at Newby Hall & Gardens, as part of its outdoor theatre season. 

Set against the backdrop of the historic gardens, the performance offers audiences the chance to enjoy one of Shakespeare’s most powerful tragedies in an open-air setting. 

Theatre tickets include entry to Newby Hall’s Gardens from 12 noon, allowing visitors to explore the award-winning gardens, playground, miniature railway, river boat rides, restaurant, gift shop and plant centre before the evening performance. 

Guests are encouraged to bring their own picnic and chairs, with a bar available before the performance and during the interval.

Listen to Ibiza anthems

The Main Ring at Harrogate’s Great Yorkshire Showground will host Symphonic Ibiza, a one-night celebration of Ibiza anthems combining live orchestral music with performances from guest vocalists including Heather Small, Rebecca Ferguson MBE and Alison Limerick.

The 40-piece Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra will perform alongside DJ Alex Bowen, while Vernon Kay will bring his BBC Radio 2 Dance Sounds of the 90s Live Tour to Harrogate as part of the support programme. 

The event will also feature food and drink areas, with standing areas, covered grandstand seating and VIP Garden tickets available.

Cars, community and families come together for charity

Charity Car Sunday will return to the Police Treatment Centres on Sunday, offering an afternoon of entertainment and family-friendly fun while raising funds for the organisation’s work, which provides physical rehabilitation and mental health support for the police community.

Open to all, visitors can see a variety of cars on display, browse stalls, enjoy food and take part in games and activities, with the event also welcoming dogs. 

The afternoon aims to bring the local community together while raising awareness and funds for the Police Treatment Centres.

A celebration of homegrown produce

The Harrogate & District Allotment Federation will celebrate its 65th Annual Allotment Show at the Sun Pavilion in Valley Gardens on Sunday. The event will showcase this year’s allotment produce on display from noon after judging has taken place.

Visitors can browse stalls selling cakes, vegetables, plants and crafts, enter the raffle and tombola, and enjoy live music from the No Lazy Dancing Dance Band. 

St Michael’s Hospice will also have a stall with donations welcome, while surplus produce from the show will be donated to Resurrected Bites. Local councillors and the Mayor of Harrogate will also be in attendance.
