Rob Burrows’ widow Lindsey and BBC Look North presenter Amy Garcia will begin a Children in Need fundraising event in Ripon next month.
The two women will attempt to push the Look North red sofa 80 miles across Yorkshire over five days.
They will set off from Ripon Market Square at 8.30am on November 9 and head along Kirkgate, Bedern Bank, Bondgate and Knaresborough Road before going towards Harrogate and Knaresborough.
They aim to finish in Wakefield on November 13, which is the main Children in Need fundraising day.
Last year Sara Cox passed through the district, staying overnight in Ripley, during her epic 135-mile ultramarathon from Northumberland to Pudsey in West Yorkshire, which raised more than £10 million.
That event drew huge crowds.
Cllr Jackie Crozier, the deputy mayoress of Ripon, said she and mayor Cllr Andrew Williams would help to push the sofa in the city.
She said:
It’s all for a fantastic cause, so let’s give Amy and Lindsey a proper Ripon welcome. If you’re a local resident or business, please come out, show your support and cheer them on. I’m sure Mr Mayor and I will manage to keep up… although the trainers may be earning their keep.
Lindsey has run several marathons in memory of her late husband, rugby league legend Rob Burrow, who died in 2024
This challenge has been called Push for Pudsey.
Amy said:
"We're going to visit dozens of towns and villages and we'll attempt to scale some of the region's highest peaks, including the famous Holme Moss climb."
