A reunion will take place this month for the first cohort of comprehensive pupils at King James’s School in Knaresborough.
Dubbed the class of '76, the students were the first to start at the then newly-opened school in 1971 following the changing of the school's status from grammar school to comprehensive.
The reunion will mark 50 years since the bulk of students left the school to start the next phase of their lives.
Former student Ian Bell, who has been instrumental along with others in making the event happen, said:
Plans to mark the reunion started around Christmas 2025 and through friends knowing friends the tendrils spread to a point where we now have over 50 attendees. However, we are keen to get the word out wider, as everyone from the 1971 school intake are all very welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing as many people as possible.
The event will be held in the downstairs area at the Mitre public house on June 27.
The reunion organisers hope that as many students as possible from the year group, along with any surviving teachers, will be able to attend.
