A Harrogate hospice has launched a fundraising appeal that invites people to remember their loved ones.
The Dedicate a Daisy appeal by Saint Michael’s Hospice invites people to dedicate a handcrafted metal daisy flower in memory of someone special in return for a donation.
The daisies will form part of a display at the hospice's garden at Crimple House.
The insitallation, overlooking Crimple viaduct, will create a shared space for reflection, remembrance, and celebration of life, with each flower representing a unique story and cherished memory.
Supporters will then be invited to take their daisy home with them at a Pick Your Daisy weekend on July 18 and 19.
Paralympic powerlifter Lottie McGuinness is dedicating a daisy to her grandpa, following the support her family received from the hospice in 2018.
She said:
I think dedicating a daisy can reignite memories of loved ones who are no longer around, and I feel that is something very special. It feels lovely and honourable to dedicate my daisy to my grandpa, who was cared for at the hospice before his passing.
When dedicating this daisy to my grandpa, it has also made me wish he could have seen me achieve my dream of competing at the Paralympics, as I know he would have absolutely loved that and been so proud.
Beth Crewe, from Saint Michael’s Hospice, said:
We’re so proud to launch our first-ever Dedicate a Daisy appeal. This campaign is a meaningful way for people to remember loved ones while also supporting the vital care we provide. Each flower tells a story, and together they will create something truly special.
Funds raised will help Saint Michael’s Hospice provide care and support for people living with terminal illness, as well as their families.
The Dedicate a Daisy appeal is open to everyone, whether or not they have a direct connection to the hospice, offering a chance for the wider community to come together in shared remembrance.
