Rossett School was one of the top paying schools.

There’s no doubt about it – teachers work very hard.

Not only do they have to plan and teach lessons, but they have endless amounts of paperwork to do, resources to make and meetings to attend.

But the job doesn’t come without its perks.

As well as getting around 13 weeks of holiday a year, the Teacher Pay Scale ensures they get a very good wage, which rises automatically each year.

The Stray Ferret dug into the details of schools in Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough and surrounding areas to find out exactly what teachers are being paid.

At schools in the area, the average teacher salary is £50,691, with the highest average seen at Glasshouses Primary School at £59,858.

The lowest average salary was at Beckwithshaw Primary School, at £40,385.

It’s important to note that these salaries likely reflect the experience held by teachers, as salary increases with years of teaching.

A newly qualified teacher currently has a starting salary of £32,916, increasing around £2,000 a year to a maximum basic pay of £51,048.

Teachers will then get additional pay increases if they are in a leadership position or if they take on certain additional roles.
