Ex-Viper Rooms boss announces two new pub ventures in Harrogate
A new Mexican-themed cocktail bar is set to open on The Ginnel in Harrogate.
It is one of two new upcoming ventures in the town by Paul Kinsey, the entrepreneur who ran the Viper Rooms nightclub and numerous other leisure sites in Harrogate.
The Mexican bar, valled Chi-Chis, will open in the unit formerly known as The Hidden Cocktail Bar & Pizzeria, on The Ginnel.
Mr Kinsey also owns the Foundry Project, which is next door to Chi-Chis.
He said:
The deal started for this project 18 months ago when it was still known as The Hidden, so we’ve had this idea for quite some time. We’ve always had the belief of operating multiple venues in one town to ensure synergy and understand what the area wants. When looking at our portfolio we thought, we know how to run a German bar, we know how to run an Irish bar, and we want variety so the logical next step to us became Chi-Chis a Mexican-themed speakeasy.
Unit 4, The Ginnel, Harrogate
The interior of the once empty unit is currently under construction. Builders were working in the heat today so the venue can open on Friday, July 11.
Mr Kinsey explained that Chi-Chis and Foundry Project will operate in tandem:
The two venues are going to be sharing a courtyard, so we’re working to open that up so that it becomes more accessible and integrated. We want it to feel like a party, we want it to be a party.
Sign for Revolución De Cuba
Besides Chi-Chis, Mr Kinsey has also taken on the lease at 18-20 Parliament Street, which was home to Revolución De Cuba.
The bar closed suddenly in January after operating for a decade.
Mr Kinsey said he would reveal more about his plans for that venue in the future.
Reflecting on his 40 years of experience in the leisure sector, he said:
We hope customers like what we do and enjoy it. All of our venues have one thing in common and that’s when people walk through the doors, they can leave their troubles behind and enjoy good quality drinks, good food, and great service.
