Harrogate road transformed for period drama with horses and carriages spotted
Horses and carriages lined the streets outside the Crown Hotel in Harrogate yesterday (June 18) as filming took place for an upcoming movie.
The area around the hotel and Pump Rooms was transformed into Victorian London, with old-fashioned posters put up and shop fronts changed.
Photos also show extras wearing tail-coats, waistcoats and top hats.
Harrogate resident Darren Taylor said:
I just went for a walk and found them setting up to film in the evening. I had a chat with the guys and they said they were filming for something called Black Palace.
According to IMDB, Black Palace is a thriller telling the story of forbidden love between a prince and a lady-in-waiting set in Buckingham Palace in the late 19th century.
BAFTA Award-winning director Nick Hamm is directing the film, and while the cast has yet to be announced it hasn’t stopped people on social media speculating, with people stating they have heard rumours of everyone from Martin Clunes to Johnny Depp starring.
The road around the area was closed for a large part of the day, leading to bus service diversions, and some posters were reportedly still up on the Pump Rooms the next day.
