GALLERY: Historic hornblowing ceremony ends Ripon’s day of fun and celebration
A historic hornblowing ceremony ended a day of celebrations in Ripon marking its patron saint and Yorkshire Day.
About 200 people gathered for the 9pm hornblowing ceremony in which, for the first time, four hornblowers set the watch at the obelisk.
It marked the end of a day of fun as floats paraded around the city for the annual St Wilfrid Procession.
The carnival atmosphere lasted all afternoon and into the night, providing a memorable day for residents and visitors.

All thoughts of pedestrianising Kirkgate were abandoned for the day.
