Great Yorkshire Show increases capacity as extra tickets go on sale
The organisers of the Great Yorkshire Show have released additional tickets for this year's event amid “unprecedented demand”.
The Yorkshire Agricultural Society has made an extra 2,500 tickets available each day, which takes the daily capacity from 35,000 to 37,500.
It means up to 10,000 more people could pass through the gates next week, when the four-day event takes place.
It is the first time the show has increased capacity since tickets were capped post-covid five years ago.
David Tite, Yorkshire Agricultural Society manager, said:
Demand for tickets to this year's Great Yorkshire Show has been phenomenal and is a real testament to the continued popularity of the show.
Working with our partners, we have carefully considered how best to ensure more people can enjoy the show and have spread the extra tickets over the four days. This means more visitors can enjoy the Great Yorkshire Show while still having a safe and comfortable visitor experience.
The show has sold out every year since 2021, when tickets were capped at 35,000 a day and moved to advance purchase only for the first time.
The organisers said today Wednesday had sold out before the fresh batch of tickets went on sale, Thursday is close to selling out, and Tuesday and Friday have limited availability.
Tickets still need to be purchased in advance.
The show, which will be its 167th edition, will be held at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate from Tuesday, July 14 to Friday, July 17.
