Harrogate home cinema business goes into liquidation
A Harrogate company that specialised in installing home cinema equipment has gone into liquidation with more than £162,000 in debts.
AVL Technologies Ltd, which traded at various times as Harrogate Home Cinema and Audiovogue, owes money to 24 creditors, including more than £141,000 to HMRC.
Of this, nearly £89,000 is owed in corporation tax, nearly £48,000 in VAT, and the remainder in National Insurance contributions.
More than £7,600 is still owed on a covid Bounce Back Loan, but the other debts are relatively small, 16 of them under £1,000.
The premises are now empty.
Previous liquidation
Launched in 2009 by entrepreneurs Andy Wyatt and Peter Hudspeth, AVL Technologies’ registered address was in Knaresborough, and had a head office on Killinghall Business Park.
But it was perhaps best known for its Harrogate town-centre presence. Its shop on Bower Street initially traded under the name Harrogate Home Cinema, but by 2015 had changed its name to Audiovogue.
It was under that name that the business went into creditors’ voluntary liquidation in October 2020 with more than £166,000 in debts, including over £61,000 to HMRC.
However, the business continued trading, reverting to the name Harrogate Home Cinema that autumn.
The Stray Ferret contacted one of the directors of the business, but he preferred not to comment.
