Longstanding pet and equine business in Killinghall sold
A longstanding business in Killinghall that supplies pet owners and horse and livestock keepers has been sold.
Pharmall Country Store has been acquired by The Blue Barn, which has grown into one of Yorkshire's leading independent pet supplies and animal feed retailers since it was established in 1994.
The Stray Ferret revealed last year that Rob Harper, who founded Pharmall 34 years ago, planned to retire.
The sale of the business was confirmed today (June 19).
Mr Harper said:
"After many years serving our customers, I am delighted to be retiring and to be passing the business on to an established local operator who shares our values and commitment to customer service. The Blue Barn has built an excellent reputation across Yorkshire, and I am confident that our customers and colleagues will be in very good hands."
All Pharmall employees have transferred as part of the deal.
The Killinghall site will be rebranded The Blue Barn Harrogate.

Michael Bates, owner of Otley-based The Blue Barn, said:
"We are delighted to be taking on such a long-established farm and animal feed business with deep roots in the local community. Pharmall has built an outstanding reputation over many years, and we are committed to building on that legacy.”
He added Pharmall was now holding a clearance event to make way for new stock.
