Country show season set to start in Harrogate district
This week's Great Yorkshire Show marks the start of the 2026 agricultural show season in the Harrogate district.
The Great Yorkshire Show is by far the biggest show on the calendar, but it's far from the only one.
From July to September the region plays host to several events showcasing the best in British farming and rural life.
We’ve compiled a list of agriculture and village shows across the district this summer.
The Great Yorkshire Show
The premier agricultural event returns for the 167th time.
The Great Yorkshire Show features an eclectic mix of equestrian skill, agricultural innovation, family entertainment and more.
Over 8,500 animals will be on display over the four days.
The stunt riding team The Bolddog FMX takes centre stage in the main ring.
Over 140,000 visitors are expected to attend.
The show takes place from Tuesday 14 to Friday 17 July.
Tickets are now available and regularly sell out before the event.

Weeton Show
Known as 'The Greatest Little Show in Yorkshire', Weeton Show returns for its annual display of livestock and horticulture.
An integral part of the village for 80 years, the day includes terrier racing, the Kirkborne Spaniels, classic cars, and tractors. Over 200 classes of horses will be taking part in an extensive range of competitions.
You can enter a four-and-a-half-mile run, The Rougemont Chase, which goes through the scenic Wharfedale countryside.
The show takes place on Sunday, July 19.

Weeton Show
Birstwith Show
This year marks the 130th annual Birstwith Show.
From Dahlias, to Foxgloves, and even potatoes, the show features an extensive list of classes to enjoy or enter.
The show takes place on Saturday, July 25.

Birstwith Show
Tockwith Show
Running since 1947, the Tockwith Show will once again combine agricultural and horticultural excitement.
New for 2026 are the Steven Longton Sheepdogs. Alongside them the FarlaVale gundogs, and the heavy horses display make their return.
Dog owners are encouraged to bring their furry friends along to participate in the dog dash, dog scurry and various dog classes.
The show takes place on Sunday, August 2.

Ripley Show
Ripley Show returns this year for its 174th show in the grounds of the iconic Ripley Castle estate.
Offering a wide range of events and classes including cattle, sheep, fleeces, horses and ponies’ visitors can expect fun for the whole family.
A wide selection of delicious farm produce will be available to attendees.
The show takes place on Sunday, August 9.

Nidderdale Show
Traditionally marking the end of the agricultural season, The Nidderdale Show celebrates the best of agricultural traditions.
The family entertainment includes terrier racing, a funfair and a cricket match.
Handicrafts and photography competitions will also be among the attractions.
