A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident in Harrogate last night.
Officers were called to a property in Devonshire Place where they arrested the man, who remains in custody today, according to North Yorkshire Police.
An ambulance was also called and a witness reported seeing a man in handcuffs being led away from the scene around 9pm.
The Stray Ferret understands officers have today been back in the area speaking to residents about the incident.

Police close Nidd Gorge viaduct in Bilton
Police have this morning closed the viaduct over Nidd Gorge in Bilton while they deal with an incident.
There was a heavy police presence around 9am but officers did not say how long they had been on the scene.
The viaduct is closed in both directions and numerous vehicles are stationed at the southern side towards Bilton Lane, behind a police cordon.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is reported to be on the scene as well.
It is not known how long the area is likely to be closed.
The gorge is popular with dog walkers, cyclists and runners.
The Stray Ferret has requested information from North Yorkshire Police but had not received a response at the time of publication.

Update: Main Harrogate road at North Rigton reopens following major incident
Rail and road travel has been disrupted this afternoon between Leeds and Harrogate.
Police say one lane of the A658 at North Rigton has now reopened, however officers remain at the scene.
Traffic was diverted through North Rigton when the incident happened earlier today.

Officers advised motorists to use the A659/A61 or the B6161 as an alternative while emergency services attended.
Meanwhile, Northern Rail tweeted at 1pm that all train services between Harrogate and Leeds have been cancelled or delayed.
A statement on their website said:
Witness appeal after collision on Harrogate’s Cold Bath Road“Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Harrogate and Leeds all lines are blocked.
“Trains running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected until 7.30pm.”
Police have issued an appeal for a witness to a serious collision in Harrogate this afternoon to come forward.
Cold Bath Road closed following an incident at the junction with West Cliffe Grove.
The air ambulance landed on West Park Stray following the crash, involving a car and a bicycle at 1.41pm.
North Yorkshire Police tweeted:

The road closed from Queen’s Road to Valley Drive, with traffic being diverted away from the scene in both directions.
North Yorkshire Police has asked motorists to avoid the area.
Major crop fires underway near A61 in Ripon
Firefighters are attempting to put out crop fires in fields close to Ripon this afternoon.
The fires are in fields alongside the A61 around Hutton Bank and billowing smoke can be seen for miles around the area.
Today has been the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures of 29 degrees recorded in the Harrogate district.
North Yorkshire Police has advised motorists to avoid the area. A spokesperson said:
“We’re asking motorists to avoid the area and find other routes for their journeys while our Fire Service colleagues work at the scene. Thank you for your patience and understanding”

Boy ‘stable’ and man under police guard in hospital after Beckwithshaw incident
An 11-year-old boy who suffered serious injuries in an incident in Beckwithshaw today is now in a stable condition in hospital following emergency surgery.
A man aged 40, who was also taken injured from the scene, remains in hospital in a serious condition and is under police guard, North Yorkshire Police confirmed this afternoon.
Both are believed to have been injured with what police are describing as “a bladed article” around 8.20am today.
Senior Investigating Officer DI Steve Menzies, of the North Yorkshire Police major investigation team, said:
“Two other children aged 10 and 13, who were also in the house at the time of the incident, are being cared for by relatives and supported by specialist police officers.
“I can reassure the public that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and an investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of exactly what happened this morning.
“I also want to thank ambulance staff, paramedic teams and police officers who quickly arrived at the scene and administered emergency aid to the injured males.”
The B6161 through Beckwithshaw was closed for several hours this morning as police entered the home in Church Row, close to Beckwithshaw Primary School, which police said was not linked to the incident.
An air ambulance landed in the field behind Beckwithshaw Village Hall, while numerous police cars and vans, as well as road ambulances, were on the scene.

Traffic and Travel Alert: A59 is blocked due to a car accident at the junction with White Wall Lane, between Harrogate and Menwith Hill
Emergency services are dealing with a road traffic collision on the A59 between Harrogate and Menwith Hill.
Police at the scene have asked drivers to avoid the area whilst they help those involved.
The collision happened at the junction with White Hall Lane near Menwith Hill.

Trains between Harrogate and Leeds cancelled due to person hit by train
Trains between Harrogate and Leeds have been cancelled or delayed due to a person being hit by a train. UPDATE: Police have confirmed that the person has died at Horsforth train station, Leeds.
The delays and cancellations are expected to continue until 12pm and possibly longer, Northern said.
Emergency services attended the incident which happened at around 7am this morning near Leeds.
A statement from Northern said:
“Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Leeds and Harrogate all lines are blocked.
“Train services running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 12:00 19/04.”

The LNER (London North Eastern Railway) tweeted:
“It is with great sadness to report due to a person being hit by a train.
“A bus replacement is available for customers travelling onwards to #Horsforth and #Harrogate. Please see station staff on arrival at #Leeds.”
Rail replacement buses are currently running from Harrogate to Horsforth. The journey times are expected to increase by 30 minutes due to the incident.
Northern tickets will also be accepted between York and Leeds on Transpennine Express Services.
