A pedestrian is seriously ill in hospital after a crash on the A59 outside Shaws Trailer Park at Starbeck.
Emergency services were called to the A59 Knaresborough Road at 7.45am yesterday (Monday, December 18).
North Yorkshire Police said last night:
“A SsangYong Korando in grey which was travelling in the direction of Harrogate collided with a man in his 50s as he was crossing the road at the pelican crossing.
“The pedestrian is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
“The driver of the SsangYong is assisting officers with their investigation.”
Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

Air ambulance called after pedestrian injured in Boroughbridge
Firefighters and an air ambulance rescued a man trapped beneath a vehicle in Boroughbridge last night.
The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle on Springfield Road at about 7pm, according to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
He was then flown to hospital in one of two local air ambulance call-outs last night — a person also required the service following a collision on the A61 Ripon Road.
The incident report said:
“One male was trapped under the vehicle and released by crews using stabilising gear and crew power.
“Crews provided first aid until arrival of air ambulance, who transported the male to hospital suffering a leg injury.”
Firefighters from Boroughbridge and Knaresborough attended the incident.

Collision in Starbeck leaves man with serious injuries
A pedestrian has been left with serious head and shoulder injuries after a collision in Starbeck last night.
A silver Nissan Micra was turning right from Starbeck High Street onto Forest Avenue around 7.55pm.
It collided with a pedestrian, who was taken to hospital and remains in a stable condition today.
Police closed the road while officers investigated and have now appealed for more information. A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said:
“We are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle prior to the collision, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.
“In particular, we are appealing for any dashcam footage of the collision.”

Man suffers serious head injuries in minibus collision in Knaresborough
A man in his 70s suffered a serious head injury this morning when he was involved in a collision with a minibus on the A59 in Knaresborough.
North Yorkshire Police said in a statement this afternoon that the pedestrian was taken to hospital. It added:
“He was conscious and breathing following the incident.”
The A59 remains closed between Bogs Lane in Harrogate and Long Walk in Knaresborough.
The incident occurred near Forest Lane Head at about 9.30am.
Diversions have been put in place while collision investigators examine the scene.
The police statement said:

Pedestrian injured in Harrogate town centre collision
A pedestrian was left with a serious ankle injury after a collision with a black BMW X6 in the centre of Harrogate.
It happened at the junction of The Ginnel and Montpellier Street on Tuesday at around 4pm.
North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses, or anyone with CCTV footage of the area, to help establish the full details of what happened.
