Police have recovered a stolen Land Rover which had been taken from a driveway in Harrogate and charged a 21-year-old man.

The owner alerted North Yorkshire Police yesterday morning after finding the vehicle had been taken overnight.

The two-in-one burglary had seen the keys taken from the house before the offender made off with the Land Rover.

Officers tracked down the vehicle and, while checking local CCTV, saw the suspect trying the door handle on another home.

The 21-year-old suspect, also from Harrogate, was arrested and charged with burglary, attempted burglary, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Thieves threaten man then steal his car in Starbeck

Thieves threatened a resident then stole a white Ford Focus from the Fairways Drive area in Starbeck.

The man heard his car alarm go off at about 7.30pm on Monday and when he went to investigate he was threatened by suspects who then made off with his vehicle.

The car was a white Ford Focus RS with blue puddle and interior lights.

North Yorkshire Police is asking for anyone who saw anything or who may have CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage covering the area to come forward.

Four arrested after stolen car driven at speed in Ripon

Police are appealing for witnesses after a car was stolen and driven at speed around Ripon.

The silver Ford Galaxy, registration MK11 LHD, was taken from Kirkby Road at around 10.25am on Tuesday morning.

It was seen being driven at speed out of Kirkby Drive, spun around in the middle of the road, and making off in the direction of the city centre.

Four men and teenagers, aged between 13 and 20, have been arrested and released under investigation while enquiries continue. A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said:

“Officers are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“In particular, they would like to hear from anyone who saw a silver Ford Galaxy being driven at speed and erratically in the Ripon area between 10.25am and 11am that day. They would also like to hear from anyone who saw a group of young people running away from the Thirlway Drive and College Road area towards the town centre.”

Stolen car crashed into wall in Jennyfields

A silver Vauxhall Astra crashed into a wall on Bramham Drive in Harrogate this morning after being stolen from a nearby home.

Burglars took the keys from a house on Columbine Grove and, after crashing, made off on foot.

North Yorkshire Police is investigating and asked anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage to email CIDHarrogate@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.

Officers have also issued advice to residents to double check their doors and windows are locked at night, keep car keys out of sight and reach, and to look out for neighbours and call 101 if anyone is acting suspiciously in the area.
