Fake notes spark police appeal in Knaresborough
Police are trying to trace a man after counterfeit notes were used to pay for an Apple MacBook Pro in Knaresborough.
In a statement today (August 20), North Yorkshire Police said the fraudulent note scam had also happened elsewhere and urged people to be vigilant.
The statement said suspects negotiated a price and then used fake notes to pay.
In this case, a person sold a MacBook Pro for £340 on social media and met to hand over the item in return for cash in Knaresborough.
A police statement said:
“The exchange took place and it was after that it was established that they were all counterfeit notes. The male in the attached shot may be able to assist us with our enquiries, and we would like to speak with him.”
