New Italian restaurant to open in Knaresborough
A new Italian restaurant is to open its doors for the first time in Knaresborough today (Friday, June 19).
Vomero – pronounced with the stress on the first syllable – will open in the Castle Courtyard premises previously occupied by Two Brothers Grill and Pizzeria, which closed in January 2025.
Owner Francesco Francomano told the Stray Ferret that Vomero would be different from the competition because it will serve “authentic Italian food imported straight from the south of Italy”.
Mr Francomano comes from a background in hospitality – his parents, Isa and Domenico, come from the hilly district of Vomero in Naples and previously ran Il Buco, a popular restaurant in Otley.

He told us:
I started working in kitchens as a very young age, and everything my father did, he taught me.
I just want to give people an authentic dining experience – homely and traditional, as if they’re on holiday in Italy.
Vomero is already taking bookings and will open at noon today.
