Ripon man who breached bail conditions avoids jail
A Ripon man who breached court bail conditions has avoided jail.
Liam Smith, 29, admitted three counts of breaching conditions imposed by York Magistrates Court at a hearing yesterday (June 29).
Smith, of Bishopton Place, was bailed after pleading guilty to two counts of assault by beating, one count of stalking and one count of harassment at a hearing on June 23.
He was bailed and ordered not to contact the named victims or attend a named address.
However, Smith was arrested and charged with breaching those conditions on June 23, 24 and 25.
The 29-year-old was sentenced to a 24-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.
He was also handed a 12-month restraining order and ordered not to contact the named victims
According to court documents, the court reached the sentence as Smith had an “appalling record for like offending”.
