Knaresborough Christmas Market has been cancelled due to the threat of high winds.
Around 60 stalls were due to take part in the annual event in Market Place.
But with Storm Darragh approaching, and a Met Office weather warning in place until Sunday, organisers have acted today.
However, they still hope the event could take place next weekend.
Organiser Hazel Haas said she was "absolutely gutted":
We have had to cancel this afternoon – absolutely gutted after so much work and planning, but it would be unsafe in 50mph winds.
With help from North Yorkshire Council we are hoping to put on the market on December 14 and 15, and are currently running around again to try to get everything in place in time.
