DalesBus has added Bradford Interchange as an extra stop to the usual route of the Nidderdale DalesBus service to support BD25, Bradford's year as UK City of Culture.

An estimated five million extra visitors are expected to visit Bradford during its year of events, and it is hoped the bus service will encourage some of them to explore other areas of Yorkshire during their stay.

The buses run from Bradford Interchange (DalesBus 820) and Keighley/Bingley (DalesBus 821) via Shipley, White Cross, Menston and Otley into the Washburn Valley and on to Pateley Bridge every summer Sunday and bank holiday, thanks to support from Yorkshire Water’s Beyond Nature project.

Lisa Harrowsmith, land and property lead surveyor for Yorkshire Water, said:

Yorkshire Water and Beyond Nature is pleased to continue its sponsorship of the DalesBus Nidderdale service, which provides an important link to some of the beautiful attractions of the Washburn Valley and Upper Nidderdale areas.

The extra stop at Bradford Interchange means that visitors to the City of Culture can enjoy a car-free trip to enjoy some of our reservoirs that provide important habitats for wildlife and are popular places for walking.

Scar House Reservoir sits in the Nidderdale National Landscape and is home to a wide range of birds like curlew, black grouse and hen harriers, and the DalesBus provides a sustainable way to travel to and from our beautiful reservoirs.

We’re always pleased to see people enjoying our stunning reservoirs and ask that visitors follow the Countryside Code, by taking their litter home, keep dogs on leads and be mindful of other visitors so that our reservoirs are enjoyable for all.

All single fares on these services are capped at just £3 (£1 for under-19s) as part of a national initiative, with free travel for concessionary pass holders.
