Experience the bold and thrilling performances of British vocal ensemble, The Marian Consort in the wonderful candlelit setting of St Wilfrid’s Church.

The ensemble is a collective of artists and collaborators, with the line-up flexible according to their programme. Featuring regularly on UK and international television and radio, the ensemble performs innovative programmes of music from the twelfth century to the present day. Performing at the Festival as part of our Gigs at Gaia, The Marian Consort will perform a diverse concert titled ‘The Language of Flowers,’ tying in with this year’s theme of the Earth. This exploration of flowers, gardens and all things earthy and earthly, both actual and allegorical, combines settings of the Song of Songs and its evocation of a luscious, fertile landscape by composers of the Spanish Renaissance with atmospheric new works from Leo Chadburn, Hugo Bell and Nneka Cummins.
