This summer come and explore Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens. Spend a whole day wondering North Yorkshire’s only World Heritage Site with your family and friends. Experience the unruly beauty of the whole estate. Keep the family entertained over the summer holidays with a myriad of activities. Get crafting every Tuesday and Wednesday. Join the wildlife team counting butterflies. Head on a deer walks and learn more about our deer herd.

Summer of Play, 20 July – 1 September

Run, jump and play your way through Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal this school summer holiday. Build an obstacle course and let your imaginations run wild. Take your shoes off and walk barefoot through the grass. Get creative with chalk and logs in Swanley Grange and take to the stage to perform with puppets, costumes or musical instruments. National Trust Summer of Play is sponsored by Starling Bank.

Deer Walks. 20 July and 17 August

Join one of our deer walks to find out about our deer herd. Explore with our wildlife team who’ll also be on hand to share their knowledge of other wildlife on the estate. Unfortunately, dogs aren’t allowed on this walk due to proximity to wildlife.

Big Butterfly Count. 22 July

Come and learn about the butterfly species that live at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal whilst helping our wildlife team count them in this national conservation survey.

A Landscape Painter’s Perspective. A new exhibition by Peter M. Hicks

Explore Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal through the eyes of one of the north’s leading landscape artists this summer. Discover paintings, studies and sketchbooks created by Peter during his residency at Fountains Abbey in 2023, along with handmade objects from his studio such as his work bench, paint pots and brushes.

Event Opening Times & Pricing: Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal opens at 10am with last entry at 4:30pm. Car parks close at 6:30pm.
All summer events are free but standard admission applies.
