Schumann and Tchaikovsky meet Stravinsky and Prokofiev.

The final concert of the season presents a striking contrast between the romantic lyricism of Schumann’s Cello Concerto and the poignant beauty of Tchaikovsky’s Andante Cantabile, performed by St Cecilia’s principal cellist, Helen Dawson. These deeply expressive works are paired with two bold creations from the early 20th century: Prokofiev’s spirited Classical Symphony, which fuses elegance and wit with his signature rebellious energy, and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite—a work he described as the “epiphany through which the whole of my late work became possible.”

Tickets (£20 for adults and free for under 18s) available online, from the Little Ripon Bookshop, Harrogate Theatre box office, and on the door from 7pm.
