Major Harrogate roadworks are set to start this weekend.
Northern Powergrid will close Ripon Road and Jennyfield Drive for over a month of maintenance works as part of a £20 million project.
Starting on Sunday (February 23), the work will be completed in phases and is expected to last until the end of March. Work will continue over the weekends.
Both roads will close at the same time, starting at the junction between the two roads.
The company is upgrading the electricity network in Harrogate and says the aim is to ensure the area continues to receive a secure and reliable supply of electricity.
Both roads will be closed to vehicles for the duration of the work.
The Stray Ferret previously reported that bus services would see significant changes while the closures are in place.
For access-only areas, two-way traffic lights will be used to regulate the flow of traffic turning in and out of side roads.
This will happen at the junctions at Oakdale Avenue, Cygnet Hospital and the Harrogate Leisure and Wellness Centre.
Residents will still be able to access the David Lloyd gym, but only from the west while the work endures.
Northern Powergrid has said that it will be “working with local businesses to ensure they can continue to receive deliveries and that there’s appropriate signage in place".
It said:
We want to thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation while we carry out this essential programme of work to improve and upgrade the vital electricity network in your area.
The company will be providing regular updates about the works on its social media pages.
