A former Harrogate Ladies’ College pupil has appeared alongside two award-winning actors in a new film.
Lee Braithwaite, who left Harrogate Ladies’ College in 2019, plays Jade in John Crowley’s ‘We Live in Time’.
Jade is commis-chef to Almut, who is played by BAFTA-nominated actress Florence Pugh, and the two partner up for the final of a prestigious cooking competition.
After leaving the Harrogate school, Lee attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art – graduating with a BA in professional acting in 2023.
‘We Live in Time’ is Lee’s first feature length role.
Lee said:
My time at Harrogate Ladies’ College gave me some amazing opportunities. The support I received helped me realise that becoming an actor was a realistic career option.
Florence Pugh praised Lee’s performance on social media, writing:
Loads of love to you my babe. What a beautiful performance you gave. Loved our time together.

Dr Emma Stokes, head of drama at Harrogate Ladies’ College, added:
Lee repeatedly wowed audiences with performances at school. It was clear to everyone at the time that Lee had something really special even at a young age. Their passion, energy and vibrancy were infectious.
Everyone at school is so proud of Lee and pleased to have been part of the journey so far.
We’re so excited to follow Lee’s career, and they will always be part of the Harrogate Ladies’ College family.
‘We Live in Time’ tells the story of a talented chef and recent divorcée – played by Golden Globe winner Andrew Garfield – who meet through a surprise encounter and fall in love.
But, according to IMBb, a painful truth puts their love story to the test.
The film was released in the UK on New Year’s Day.
