A local yoga teacher will hold a free, inclusive community yoga session in the Valley Gardens in Harrogate later this month to mark International Yoga Day.
Guneet Khurana, who runs Ujjayi Yoga from her home in Killinghall, will make the session open to all levels, including complete beginners.
Attendees should wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat, water, and a blanket or a cushion if they wish.
The session will include gentle movement, pranayama breathing techniques, meditation, and will close with AUM ['om'] chanting to leave participants feeling grounded and calm.
Ms Khurana said:
Yoga is for everybody. It’s not about twisting into a pretzel and yoga is definitely not a gym workout – it’s a way of life.
For me, yoga is about calming the mind through breath, meditation, chanting, and daily mindfulness. If you can breathe, you can do yoga.
The free yoga session will take place from 11am to 12.30 on Sunday, June 22 near the bandstand in the Valley Gardens.
International Yoga Day was adopted by the United Nations in 2014 and is marked annually on Saturday, June 21.
