Harrogate’s Christmas Fayre will return this year, it has been confirmed.
The annual event is set to be held in the town centre for the fifth year in a row.
Matthew Chapman, chief executive at Harrogate Business Improvement District, confirmed that the fayre will return at a meeting of Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce last night (May 12).
Mr Chapman said:
We’re really pleased to share this evening that the Harrogate Christmas Fayre is happening again this year.
With the changes in local government and the town council, it was a little bit in question whether the Christmas fayre was going to be funded or go-ahead this year. But we’re pleased to say that North Yorkshire Council has again funded the Christmas fayre for another 12 months.
Conversations on how that [the fayre] looks are taking place as we speak.
Tony Watson, head of tourism at North Yorkshire Council, told businesses at last night’s chamber meeting that the council would be “supporting” the event and working with traders ahead of the fayre.

Last year’s event, which was held over 17 days, saw the return of the candy cane road train, as well as a 32-metre ferris wheel.
It also included 50 stalls with independent traders from across the country and Europe selling seasonal gifts, food and decorations.
The fayre was held in the pedestrianised areas of Cambridge Street and Market Place.
The event was operated by Ashton-Under-Lyne firm Market Place, with support from Visit North Yorkshire and Harrogate BID.
