Harrogate professional golfer John Parry has claimed £365,000 by winning a DP World Tour event in Mauritius.
It was Parry's second DP World Tour victory in his 236th appearance, and came 14 years after his first.
He started the final round five shots off the lead but shot a 64 to storm to success and become the first golfer from England on the 2025 Race to Dubai.
He won €245,764 prize money and a $200,000 bonus for winning the DP World Tour's Opening Swing.
Parry, 38, spoke about life as a golf pro in an interview with the Stray Ferret last year.
Back then, he had just won three competitions on the 2024 Challenge Tour to secure a spot on the 2025 DP World Tour, which is the main men's professional golf tour in Europe. It was formerly known as the European Tour.
His year could not have ended better when he won the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on December 22.
It was the 38-year-old’s first DP World Tour title since 2010, when he won the Vivendi Cup in France.
By winning the tour’s Opening Swing, he also ensured entry into all events in the second phase of the season and the Back 9 tournaments on the 2025 Race to Dubai schedule.
Parry is now ranked 99th on the Official World Golf Ranking – climbing 52 places from 151st.

He first held a golf club aged eight and since starting out at Harrogate Golf Club, has since gone on to compete against the likes of Rory McIlroy and play in two US Opens.
But it’s not been plain sailing — Parry has twice been demoted from the top tour.
He described his recent win as "massive", adding:
Five or six years - maybe four years ago - I was back on the Euro Pro, and I was close to giving up golf. It’s been a long battle back but worth every moment for this week.
