Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a two-storey property in Harrogate yesterday (January 14).
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident log said Harrogate and Knaresborough crews were summoned to the house at 5.26pm.
The log added the fire started in a tumble dryer in the ground floor hallway underneath a staircase.
The occupant had unplugged the machine and attempted to extinguish the fire with damp cloths before firefighters arrived.
The log added:
The fire crew extinguished the fire and ventilated the property. Crews used 1 hose reel jet, 2 breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan to deal with the incident.
The Stray Ferret asked the fire service for more information about the incident. We asked if anyone had been injured, what caused the fire and how much damage the fire caused.
A spokesperson said there have been no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental due to an electrical fault.
They said the fire was confined to the tumbler dryer but the whole property suffered smoke damage.
The fire service did not disclose where in Harrogate the fire occurred.
