A new Harrogate fish and chips shop is set to open next week.
Yorkies Fish and Chips will begin trading next Wednesday (April 16). It is located at 65 Knaresborough Road - the third fish and chips restaurant on the street.
The chip shop will occupy the site of the former Drakes Fish and Chip Restaurant, which closed last year.
It will open from 12pm-8pm on Tuesdays to Thursdays and 12pm-9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The takeaway will not trade on Sundays.
The shop will offer “all the classics” of a chip shop – fish, chips, sausages, mushy peas and curry sauce among others. It says it will keep its menu small to focus on serving “the best fish and chips possible”.
Claudia Hurst, a spokesperson for Yorkies, told the Stray Ferret what they hope to bring to the area:
We want to bring a fresh energy to the street—somewhere welcoming, a bit cheeky, and full of best food and friendly faces. A chippy that feels like part of the community from day one.
We’re not just frying—we’re reimagining what a chippy can be. From fun branding to quality ingredients and friendly service, we’re putting our passion into every box with decades of experience and a pinch of Yorkshire charm.
The team are really excited to open. Fish and chips have always been about the community and bringing people together, and who doesn't like a chippy Friday!
The owners have run over 45 fisheries across the UK. Most notable is the Mother Hubbard’s chain, which currently operates 12 branches across England.
Claudia said that the chip shop is aiming to have a "soft launch" next Wednesday (April 16), and that it would be open by Good Friday.
