A prolific Harrogate thief was jailed on Saturday (May 24).
Matthew Tuck, of Norwich Drive, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary and one count of theft from a shop at York Magistrates Court.
According to court documents, Tuck entered the DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel and Spa as a trespasser on April 29 this year.
He then stole £1,168 worth of alcohol from the hotel’s bar area.
The defendant also stole washing products worth £168 from the Co-op on St Winifred’s Avenue on May 5.
Five days later, the 30-year-old went to Asda in Harrogate and stole items worth £600.
He then made off with £119.80 worth of meat from the Co-op on Skipton Road.
Tuck breached a suspended sentence order by committing the offences and was jailed for a total of 12 months.
Court documents say the offences are so serious only a custodial sentence can be justified, adding the defendant has a flagrant disregard for people, their property and court orders.
