Readers’ Letters is a free weekly column giving you the chance to have your say on issues affecting the Harrogate district. It is an opinion column and does not reflect the views of the Stray Ferret. Send your views to letters@thestrayferret.co.uk.
This week, we’ve collated some of our readers’ comments left in the comments section of our website.
The A59 at Kex Gill closed suddenly on New Year’s Day due to a landslip. The following two comments were left on a story about the road closure.
This is a significant inconvenience, but these ‘extraordinary’ events are the results of the climate emergency caused by our own lifestyles. Time to change.
Ian Brown
Not again. It will be a blessing to get the new road open!
Fran Gargett
These comments were left on a recent story about changes to waste collection. Harrogate district households are set to get up to four wheelie bins each.
Where are we expected to store all the bins? If houses have no front/back access, then all the bins will be stored at the front of a property causing a dreadful eyesore. In addition, for a cash-strapped council, what a waste of money.
Jackie Stanton
Has any thought been given to where these bins will go? There are parts of town where the pavements are blocked by the wheelie bins for three or four flats in large houses that have been divided into multiple residences.
Henri Hunter
