A new Greek restaurant will open its doors in Harrogate next week.
Pitta Star will serve its first customers on Thursday (February 20) on Bower Road. It is on the site of the former Fabulous 50’s Diner which closed at the end of 2023.
The restaurant will serve traditional Greek food, such as chicken gyros, moussaka and souvlaki.

Opening times will be 11am to 11pm. An outside seating area will be open until 9pm.
Joint owners Adonis and Eleni Pula and Gentian and Eljona Kukureci will operate the venue.
The restaurant has a designated kitchen and a public-facing food bar which has three kebab grills.

The Stray Ferret today spoke to the owners about what they aim to bring to the town:
We want to bring a piece of Greece to the town. We will bring traditional recipes which we hope people will love.
Everything is home cooked. Eleni has 20 years of cheffing experience in Greece and will introduce signature dishes with traditional flavours.
We hope that our good food and reasonable prices will encourage customers to come and see what we have to offer.

The four owners have lived in Harrogate for seven years and told us that they had made a “big investment” to set up their business in “a nice place with nice people".
They said that all their meat is imported from Greece. Adonis told us that the food was “like his baby” and that he only wanted authentic Greek meats.
When asked how they will compete with other Greek restaurants in the area, they said:
We only want to focus on our business. We think Pitta Star is different to other takeaways, but we would love the customers to be the judge of that.
They hope that the outdoor seating area will be a place where people can enjoy their food in the summer, adding that it is a real suntrap.
The restaurant will offer a 30% discount on all of its food to celebrate its opening on Thursday.
