A woman has died after being found unconscious at a property in Starbeck.
North Yorkshire Police was called at 8.20am on Monday (August 4) to Stonefall Avenue after being alerted by the ambulance service.
Officers confirmed in a statement that a 42-year-old woman was taken to hospital but later died. Police said they were treating the death as “unexplained” at this time.
A force statement said:
At around 8.20am on 4 August 2025, police in Harrogate were called by the ambulance service to reports of a woman who was found unconscious at a property in Stonefall Avenue.
The 42-year-old woman was taken to hospital but despite the efforts of medical staff, she sadly died. Her death is being treated as unexplained at this time, pending the results of a post mortem.
Police added that a man in his 50s was also arrested on suspicion of drug offences and taken into custody for questioning.
He has since been released on conditional police bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.
