Harrogate Town have announced their sixth summer signing.
Reece Smith, 23, joins the Sulphurites on a free transfer from National League relegation side Maidenhead United.
He has been given a two-year contract at the club.
Smith plays predominantly off the left, having just completed an impressive seven-goal and 10-assist campaign in Berkshire.
This is the club’s second signing from the Magpies this summer.
After over 150 appearances for Alan Devonshire’s side, Smith follows in the footsteps of Zico Asare and Shawn McCoulsky in swapping York Road for North Yorkshire.
The winger said:
I had a really good connection with Shawn on the pitch last season and that’s hopefully something I can bring to Harrogate.
As soon as I spoke to the manager and staff it was clear to me, this felt like the right place, when I visited the area my family and I immediately fell in love with it.
I can’t wait to get out there and play for the club, give it absolutely everything I can and put in some good performances.
Smith becomes Town’s sixth signing, following the arrivals of Jack Evans, Lewis Cass, Shawn McCoulsky, Mason Bennett and Tom Bradbury.
Head of player recruitment, Lloyd Kerry, added:
We’ve been really impressed with what we’ve seen of Reece so far, he’s a creative left winger who travels well with the ball and commits full backs.
He’ll work hard and do the other side of the game as well, you don’t play as many games as he has at National League level if you don’t do that.
We feel he can step up with the ability he has got and coming into a full-time environment he’ll only go from strength to strength.
Smith will wear the number 22 shirt for Simon Weaver’s side.
The transfer is subject to FA and EFL approval.
