A spate of thefts in Knaresborough has prompted North Yorkshire Police to urge people to check their outdoor key safes.
A number of key safes – strong boxes locked with a combination code, where a spare key can be left – have been stolen over the past fortnight from Manor Gardens and Charlton Manor Drive.
North Yorkshire Police said:
As part of our investigation we’re appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the incidents or saw someone acting suspiciously, or anyone with CCTV footage.
We’re also asking local residents to check their properties and any key safe boxes – make sure they have no damage, are secure and they're in full working order.
If you notice any suspicious activity, please report it immediately.
Anyone with information that could help with the investigation should email jemma.grant@northyorkshire.police.uk.
Alternatively, they can call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for PC649 Grant.
Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can pass information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting the North Yorkshire Police reference number 12250065768.
