A man has been jailed for using threatening behaviour in Harrogate.
Zahid Younas pleaded guilty to two offences of theft from a shop and one offence of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence at York Magistrates Court on June 2.
According to court documents, Younas stole a bottle of wine worth £6.25 from Sainsbury’s in Knaresborough on May 31.
The defendant returned to the store on the same day, when he stole another two bottles of wine – both valued at £6.20.
Younas, who is of no fixed address but lived in the Bradford area, also used threatening or abusive words or behaviour towards an unnamed person in Harrogate on May 31.
He wanted the person to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against them, court documents add.
The 43-year-old defendant was jailed for two weeks for each shop theft.
He was also handed an eight-week custodial sentence for the public order offence.
The sentences will be served concurrently, meaning he will spend a total of eight weeks behind bars.
A court documents says the reasons for imprisonment are Younas' flagrant disregard for people and their property, and his unwillingness to comply with the probation service.
