Starbeck Community Fund is to double the amount it gives away each year to £20,000.
The fund, which is managed by North Yorkshire Council, was established in 1992 with £300,000 generated from the development of the Morrisons supermarket.
The sum was set aside to improve recreation and community facilities.
The fund currently awards £10,000 a year but a 10-year review conducted by North Yorkshire councillors whose divisions fall in Starbeck and Starbeck Residents Association agreed to double the amount.
It means the small grants scheme for applicants aged 25 or under will award £400 each instead of £200 and the grants scheme for groups will award £2,000 each instead of £1,000.
Last year's successful applicants included Harrogate Neighbours, St Andrew’s Church and the 23rd Harrogate Scouts.
In a decision notice on its website, the council said:
Following discussions with the residents association on how the local community could best benefit from the funds, it has been recommended we draw down a maximum of £60,000 from the capital funds to offer larger grants for capital projects, this new opportunity would offer grants of up £20,000.
Chris Watt, chair of the residents association, said it was "proud to work with the council to support numerous organisations and individuals through our annual grants".
Mr Watt added:
We want to continue to make a real difference to Starbeck. As people who live here, the Starbeck Residents Association committee are proud of our area and want to give something back. But we know that the cost of living makes that harder so we've been pleased to work with North Yorkshire Council to double the grants this year and introduce a new, larger capital grant for significant projects.
Full details of the application process will be released soon on the council website, the Starbeck Residents Association Facebook group and around Starbeck and we'd encourage people to apply.
