Asmara Kazmi, chair of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign in Leeds, will be in Ripon on the evening of Thursday April 3, to speak at a public meeting.

Almost 18 months after war broke out in Gaza and with an uneasy peace in place, the question that will be posed to attendees at St John the Baptist Chapel on Bondgate is: Palestine: What Next?

Meeting organsier Andy Croft led a year of Monday afternoon peaceful silent vigils on Ripon Market Square, which initially called for a ceasefire.

He said:

Things have moved on and after 18 months of war and the deaths of 60,000 civilians, Gaza lies in ruins, the Israeli authorities continue to persecute Palestinians in the West Bank and Trump is calling for the expulsion of all Palestinians from Gaza in order to build a luxury holiday resort.

What can the Palestinians do now? Whatever happened to the two states solution? What should the United Nations do, and what is the British government doing to prevent genocide?

These are all questions that need to be addressed, along with the question: what can we do here in North Yorkshire?

The meeting starts at 7pm on April 3 and everyone is welcome.
