Mint Garth play area in Knaresborough could undergo a £50,000 makeover.

The news comes after North Yorkshire Council announced it is working with Knaresborough Town Council to improve the quality of the playground.

It has launched a survey to gather residents’ opinions, which it says will “help create the most suitable design for the play area”.

North Yorkshire Council said:

“The play area currently lacks a good range of play equipment for a wide age range of users.

“There is a lot of unused space on the play area site which we feel would benefit from some up-to-date play equipment.”

It added the consultation report will be used to create a wish list for the design brief, which will “influence the final decision”.

A total of £50,000 has been allocated to the project, which would be funded by section 106 money, the authority added.

Section 106 funds are paid to the council by developers to mitigate for the infrastructure requirements of their schemes.

You can have your say by completing the survey, which ends on Sunday, March 3.
