A luxury Harrogate hair salon has shared top trends to watch out for for this winter, to ensure clients are ready for the festive season.

Charlotte Woolley opened in the town centre last November, and has already established a loyal customer base – and a reputation for creating big, bouncy blowouts.

The salon offers a vast range of specialised services, including hair extension application and removal, wedding hair styling, keratin treatments - which relax the hair's natural shape, eliminating frizz - children’s cuts and sessions for individuals with special educational needs (SEN).

As we move into the colder months, the team have identified some key tips to keep hair looking fabulous all year round.

Winter is the time for softer styles

For many, winter equals hibernation mode, and our hair is often covered up with a hat or a hood.

While that doesn’t mean hair is neglected, it can mean that we feel less inclined to spend time on an elaborate style.

Charlotte Woolley stylist Libby Scaife explained:

When it comes to winter lots of our clients tend to tone down their hair and opt for a softer style as the natural look is very in at the minute.

As the Christmas season is approaching fast, the majority of our clients are scheduling appointments now so they're ready for the Christmas festivities.

Darker nights call for darker hues

Another trend that Libby has noticed is that people tend to opt for darker tones, with golden and brunette shades being a popular option.

Transformations don’t have to be as drastic as swapping from light to dark however– clients with blonde hair often choose a warmer tones when autumn arrives, preferring a light hue for summer months.

Charlotte Woolley’s experienced stylists will ensure any change their clients decide to undergo are carefully considered first, so that clients can feel confident in their choice.

Prep for party season with a bouncy blowout

‘Tis nearly the season for work Christmas parties, end-of-year events and lots of merriment – and why shouldn’t your hair be just as fun as the festive period?

Whether you’re a fan of an elegant updo, or like the sound of the bouncy blowouts that Charlotte Woolley has become so well known for, the team are on hand to bring your ideas to life.

Libby would urge people considering getting their hair done for an event to book sooner rather than later.

Top tips for home styling

When you're in between appointments, the team have some handy at-home tips to keep hair looking fresh and healthy for longer.

  • Use oil after styling to add hydration and shine.
  • The weather this time of year can dry hair out, so conditioning treatments are a useful tool for replenishing hair.
  • Minimise the use of heat on the hair - and use heat protector spray if you do.
  • Silk pillow cases and scrunchies are a great option to prevent breakage and frizz.
  • Eggs, seeds and nuts all contain nutrients that can help to regulate hair growth.
