Plans have been lodged for new storage units and offices at a business near Ripon.
Event Traffic Control Ltd has submitted the proposals to North Yorkshire Council for its headquarters at Baldersby Gardens in Baldersby village, which is between Ripon and Thirsk.
The plan would see new buildings built for storage with reception office space and an ancillary office building.
The proposal is due to be considered by the council's Skipton and Ripon area constituency planning committee. The company holds contracts with the council.
The storage unit planned for Baldersby.
In a planning statement submitted to the authority, the developer said the new buildings would help the company to run its operations efficiently.
It said:
The proposed development is required to ensure the more efficient operation of the applicant’s business and to allow for future growth of the business.
Officers at North Yorkshire Council have recommended that the proposal be approved in a report that will be considered by councillors.
Rebecca Micallef, economy officer at the council, said the authority supported the proposal from an economic growth perspective.
She said:
Land and buildings is one of the key themes of our economic growth strategy which encourages active development for employment use to support business expansion and we are therefore supportive of this application from an economic growth perspective.
However, Baldersby Parish Council objected to the plan on the grounds that it would have a “substantial effect on the local environment”.
Councillors of Skipton and Ripon area planning committee will make a decision on the plan at a meeting on May 6.
