A new bakery is due to open on Harrogate’s Montpellier Parade next month.
Sunflower Bakery already has two shops, one on Boroughbridge’s Horsefair and another in Thirsk. Owned by Kelly Days, they sell cakes, brownies and cookies as well as cake supplies.
Ms Days is refurbishing the former Westmorland unit at 16 Montpellier Parade and expects the store will be ready to open in July.
The shop will sell sweet treats and ice creams while downstairs will be home to Sunflower Bakery’s kitchens and cake school.
The cake school will hold workshops that teach adults and children sugar craft, cake decorating and patisserie skills.
Ms Days, orignially from Yorkshire, went to university in the south and the business began in 2012 in Somerset.
In 2022 Ms Days and her family relocated to North Yorkshire, and opened in Boroughbridge.
The family business produces treats for events such as weddings and corporate events and often appears at the Knaresborough pop-up shop.

Ms Days told the Stray Ferret that opening a shop in Harrogate has been her dream for the past 20 years.
She said:
I dreamed of a shop on Montpellier, Harrogate is really idyllic and beautiful and just reminds me of home. It’s a great location and has high footfall.
The point of the business is to be creative and to have fun. I want people to feel welcome, it will be somewhere people can bring their children and enjoy a cake, it will feel fresh and modern and add colour to the parade.
